In May 2024, the Omeriye Foundation launched the Mtopanga Special School officially. It was constructed with donations raised by our partners, and is intended for use as a school for children living with disability.
Only 3.5 percent of Kenya's population had a university degree in 2019. This is mostly due to lack of funds.
Education is a key focus area for us. By offering scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, we give them a chance to improve their lives and the lives of people around them.
Only 59% of Kenyans are able to access clean drinking water. Just 29% have access to improved sanitation facilities. The Omeriye Foundation is playing its part in resolving this situation through our numerous borehole projects
It is estimated that there are approximately 3.6 million children aged below 18 years in Kenya who have been orphaned or who are vulnerable. We regularly visit orphanages to provide food and other necessities. We also build new structures and renovate existing buildings
Only 3% of poor people in Kenya have access to health insurance. We regularly organise medical camps where free and specialised medi-care is offered to remote communities.
Roughly 4.2 million Kenyans in the arid and semi-arid parts of Kenya are facing dire food insecurity.
We donate dry food packages and hot meals all through the year to people living in drought stricken areas, children's homes, slum dwellers. Our foundation also distributes meat packages as part of our Kurban projects.
With your help, we were able to distribute iftar meals to mosques, rural communities, orphanages, and even inmates at the Mombasa Remand Prison. Through our dry-food package Project, we were able to distribute essential food supplies in various locations across Kenya.
In November 2023, Severe flooding recently struck several counties in Kenya due to unusually active El Niño rains, resulting in the loss of at least 71 lives and the displacement of thousands.
Vast stretches of farmland were submerged, and numerous livestock perished. Thousands of homes were either washed away or left marooned.
The hardest-hit areas were the arid and semi-arid lands (ASAL) where pastoralism drove the local economy and sustained livelihoods.
Children were particularly vulnerable because these regions were still recuperating from a devastating drought, the worst in 40 years, which had led to a surge in cases of child malnutrition.
The situation deteriorated as the rains persisted. Thirty-six out of the country's 47 counties were affected. Garissa, Isiolo, Mandera, Marsabit, Samburu, Tana River, and Wajir counties, along with the coastal counties of Kilifi and Mombasa, were particularly impacted by riverine floods, flash floods, and landslides.
The flooding destroyed over 17,600 acres of farmland and led to the reported deaths of more than 13,400 livestock. Furthermore, water and sanitation infrastructure suffered damage, disrupting normal service and access to water sources.
The supply chain for medical, nutritional, and non-medical commodities, including routine program items, was severely impacted. Roads were damaged, hindering emergency medical referrals, and prolonged power outages in health facilities exacerbated care gaps for individuals with chronic illnesses.
The Omeriye Foundation identified Tana River county as one of the worst hit by the floods, after River Tana burst its banks. Our volunteers in the field listed a few areas within the county where vulnerable communities' homes were marooned by floodwater.
The situation was particularly desperate at Madogo Total station, Mororo, and the Tana River bridge where the river burst its banks.
Our foundation wrote a request letter to our partners, seeking funds to rent rescue boats that would go directly to the crisis areas and move the families to safe zones that had been designated by the county government.
The rescue boats had to be rented, transported to Tana River and fueled. We were able to rescue a total of 100 people in the following villages:

. The festival commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son and is marked by the ritualistic slaughter of animals known as Qurbani. The meat is divided into three parts, with one portion for the family and the rest distributed to the poor and needy. We conduct Qurban and donate meat to disadvantaged communities.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our generous donors who made it possible for us to drill 60 boreholes in 2022.
Your support has brought clean water to communities who have struggled for so long to access it. We need your continued help to make an even greater impact.
With your support, we have donated thousands of food packages to drought-stricken communities. We regularly distribute meat and dry food packages all around Kenya.

With the help of our partners, we regularly organize free medical camps in remote parts of Kenya where access to healthcare is a major challenge.
These camps bring much-needed medical attention to rural communities. Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of those who lack access to quality healthcare.
