In November 2022, the Omeriye Foundation set out on a prospecting visit to Marsabit County, in Northern Kenya. Our team visited Turbi, Kambi Nyoka, Yaa galbo, and Yaa Adhola villages to assess the extent to which communities in the county had been affected by the ongoing drought in Kenya. We spoke to the villagers in these areas to find out what their daily lives are like and what their most urgent needs are.
A month later, in December 2022, we made another visit to the area to donate food packages in two towns; Sololo and Kukub Fami. The Sololo distribution was done at the grounds of the deputy county commissioner's office where 300 27kg dry food packages were donated to needy families.
In Kukub Fami, a further 300 food packages were donated at the grounds of a local school. We are extremely thankful to the support we received from our partners. It is through their help that this was possible.
Together with our partners, the Omeriye Foundation plans to dig two boreholes in January 2023 to boost access to water for these disadvantaged communities.
