As the holy month of Ramadan came to a close, the Omeriye Foundation is proud to share the impact made possible by your generous support. This year’s humanitarian efforts brought critical food assistance to some of the most vulnerable communities in Kenya—those affected by devastating floods, orphans, slum dwellers, and food-insecure families in remote villages.
In November 2023, Kenya experienced severe flooding due to El Niño rains, which:
- Affected 36 of 47 counties
- Displaced over 45,000 people
- Damaged homes, schools, roads, and water systems
- Hit already-vulnerable arid and semi-arid areas especially hard
With hunger and malnutrition on the rise, the need for timely support was critical.
Hunger Relief Packages
Thanks to your support, we distributed 2,233 hunger relief packages (each weighing 16 kg) to families in villages, slums, mosques, and low-income neighborhoods.
Each package contained:
- 4 kg Wheat Flour
- 4 kg Maize Flour
- 2 kg Green Grams
- 2 kg Rice
- 1 kg Sugar
- 1 kg Beans
- 1 kg Spaghetti
- 1 kg Salt
Orphanage Packages
We also delivered 344 kg Iftar food packages to orphanages and communal settlements in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kajiado counties. These orphanage packages provided sustenance to 1,014 people.
